Abstract Some philosophers and psychologists share an assumption that pleasure is by nature such when experience pleasurable, agent motivated to continue having experience. In this paper, I dispute assumption. First, point out how it does not make sense of the wanting-liking distinction in motivational neuroscience. Second, present as a counterexample what call’dynamic pleasure’ which motivate retaining one’s focus on object original but motivates exploration other options instead.
